My Friend Dale is turning forty today. Although i’ve been teasing him quite mercilessly about turning forty, it’s not without some great deal of merit. Oddly enough, Dale and I are connected through the work that I do, however, that’s not how we met.
Dale and I met through Twitter, which to some is the scourge of the universe, but to me it’s quite fun. Some of you may have heard the story of how I met Dale, but for those who haven’t, here you are.
One night last year, shortly after I created my account on Twitter. I found some interesting people to follow, and some very old and dear friends. It so happened that the night I was in “beautiful” downtown Salem, I was checking Twitter and saw that some of my friends were using the phrase “Seriously” an awful lot. In fact, one person I was following, thanks to another friend, had posted. “I’m Seriously, excited about Seriously using Seriously.” Which incited my reply of “You have to be seriously careful of hurting Seriously’s feelings by overusing Seriously” And the conversation of wit and whimsy began.
While this is a much shorter version of the interaction that night as Seriously was used more than should be humanly allowed. I have, because of that small strange situation, gained a friend, and a second (or third, or fourth) family (known on Twitter as #ChumbleyFam) Through and by the benefit of Dale’s friendship, I’ve met his wife Bridget (Who is quite humorous and thoughtful) and his children. Connections that I value quite dearly and have benefited greatly from their friendship.
So if you have a second today, make sure to wish Dale a Happy Fortieth!
Dale, I hope today is special!
