Human beings are unable to be honest with themselves about themselves. They cannot talk about themselves without embellishing. This script portrays such human beings — the kind who cannot survive without lies to make them feel they are better people than they really are. – Akira Kurosawa
An interesting quote. What would happen if humans could be arrested for “puffery?”
I believe it is the duty of each of us to act as if the fate of the world depended on him. Admittedly, one man by himself cannot do the job. However, one man can make a difference…. We must live for the future of the human race, and not for our own comfort or success. – Hyman G. Rickover
Today’s quote really doesn’t need much introduction. I think it really does speak for itself. It’s message is bold and open.
To make bread or love, to dig in the earth, to feed an animal or cook for a stranger — these activities require no extensive commentary, no lucid theology. All they require is someone willing to bend, reach, chop, stir. Most of these tasks are so full of pleasure that there is no need to complicate things by calling them holy. And yet these are the same activities that change lives, sometimes all at once and sometimes more slowly, the way dripping water changes stone. In a world where faith is often construed as a way of thinking, bodily practices remind the willing that faith is a way of life. – Barbara Brown Taylor
Today’s quote, by Agnes de Mille, is really a simple statement on what we already know to be true. Sometimes we’re too focused on living our life “the right way” instead of living it. Just something to think about.
Living is a form of not being sure, not knowing what next or how. The moment you know how, you begin to die a little. The artist never entirely knows. We guess. We may be wrong, but we take leap after leap in the dark. – Agnes de Mille
This is my 600th quote/photo of the day post. Who would have thought that this would have proven to be a fun as it has been. Things I’ve learned? I’ve become a little bit better photographer, no longer do I “luck into” as many photos, I actually see them as they should be. It’s been fun. It continues to be fun. That’s why I do it.
Every achiever I have ever met says, My life turned around when I began to believe in me. – Robert H. Schuller

Expectations are a funny thing. We all have expectations in life, of those we adore, of those we hate and of those we exist with. Those expectations are what they are and you cannot expect someone else to change, you can only expect to change your expectations.
You will never be happier than you expect. To change your happiness, change your expectation. – Bette Davis
This is really a great quote. It’s usually not greener grass wherever you look, but wherever you tend to your garden. Through rain, or shine, it’s all the same. If you water and cultivate it, it will grow. A good reminder for all of us.
The grass is not, in fact, always greener on the other side of the fence. Fences have nothing to do with it. The grass is greenest where it is watered. When crossing over fences, carry water with you and tend the grass wherever you may be. – Robert Fulghum
