Today’s quote really was another i stumbled upon. I was looking for a way to celebrate my friend Sarah’s first day at her new job. Instead, I found these great words by Ms. Plath.
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead; I lift my eyes and all is born again. – Sylvia Plath
I asked a friend to pick the word today. It’s how I pick a quote every day. As I’ve stated before, I find a word, search for a quote, and procure something thoughtful. Today’s word was preoccupy. Then I found this fantastic quote.
If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way; if you don’t, you’ll find an excuse. In times when the passions are beginning to take charge of the conduct of human affairs, one should pay less attention to what men of experience and common sense are thinking than to what is preoccupying the imagination of dreamers. – Alexis de Tocqueville
This building is in Seattle. Though, you’d never know it by the reflection and the blue skies! Welcome to Pacific Northwest Summer!
Heh. This is surely something I struggle with. I over-engineer things all the time, it’s part of my charm.
The art of life is to deal with one’s problems as they arise; rather than destoy your spirit by worrying about them too far in advance. – Robert Harris
The Hawthorne Bridge, on a sunny day, and the mechanism that makes it lift. Just thought the color balance was interesting. I hope you think so, too! A little red, white and blue to brighten your day.
Heh. This quote made me smile for two reasons. One, procrastination is the best way to wait until the last minute and two, I didn’t know there was an Augustine of Hippo.
God has promised forgiveness to your repentance, but He has not promised tomorrow to your procrastination. – Augustine of Hippo
Or conversely, seeing what’s inside your cookie. LOL — This photo came from a coffee shop I was at recently. I was talking with some friends and I noticed these poor cookies, unopened, with no one around. I guess they didn’t want to know their fortune, they just wanted to imagine what’s inside.
